How to help your child to make friends at school
For children who go to new school, it can be hard to make new friends as they are shy and unsure. As soon as you know your child will be attending new classes, ask for support from the school staff.
Check places where your child can eat lunch or where is it going to sit in a class. Speak with your child to help him out, check if he wants to make new friends. You can mention to him ways he can approach other kids. You can pack in his lunchbox something extra so he can share it with another person he like. Encourage your child to join any extra activities, school clubs or teams. It¡¯s good when your child understands that making new friends can be time consuming and not always everyone is a potential friend. If your child already likes someone, you can help him out, do a small celebration or let your child to invite his friend to your house to watch a movie, play in the garden and stay overnight. Show him that you¡¯re also looking for your own friends and speak with him about new met people.
Make sure your child is wearing something fashionable, it makes them look and feel better, not to mention boosting their confidence
Be good for your child¡¯s friends, let them feel good near you. Support your child in meeting new people as also taking care of old friends. If he can¡¯t see them, supply some stationery to write letters or a computer so he can write e-mails.
Be confident in yourself and smile lots.
