How to effectively travel by bus.
Many people don¡¯t use buses when going to new places because it¡¯s difficult to know when to get off.
If you¡¯re going to particular destination it¡¯s good to check your route in advance. Check your nearest bus station and see what busses go in the way you want. Read where is the last stop or when they change their route. If they do, you need to change your bus and keep going your way. You can find the destination on the timetable. There will be a big post with all the numbers of buses on it, and underneath the numbers there will be a line pointing to where you are now and in which direction the bus will be going.
Before you board make sure you have your travel card. If you¡¯re planning to travel whole week it¡¯s better to get Oyster card which allows you to travel much cheaper. Remember that fare for the buses varies. If you have a Travel Card you do not have to pay extra. If you don't have a Travel Card, tell the driver your destination and he will charge the appropriate fare. If you¡¯re unsure of which way your bus is going, check with the driver. Work out the number of the bus you need.
Knowing when to get off the bus can be tricky. Sit in the upper level (if there is one), where it is easier to see where you are going. Look out for Tube stations and other landmarks near your destination. You can also sit near the bus driver and ask him to remind you when the bus approaches your stop. 90% of bus drivers know all bus stops. Always have a map with you so you can find yourself where you are if you got a bit lost.
