What type of events can I post?

As a member, you’re free to post any type of event that you can come up with – provided it’s in good taste.  We’ve seen many people post safe events, like a romantic dinner, going to a sports event or art gallery, or even events more unique like a cookery or pottery class.  Try and pick some of your favorite events, and you’ll be sure to find people with a similar interest.

Should I include a picture with my profile or a personal ad?

Yes, people will want to know who you are before answering your ad. A picture with a profile will greatly increase your likelihood of getting a letter. After all you want people who will accept you for who you are. Remember, profiles without pictures get viewed at a fraction of the rate that ones with photos.

Do I have to answer all the questions on a profile or personal ad form?

The short answer is “no”.  However, the more information that you submit in your profile, the more likely it is that you’ll get great responses from people similar to you.   The more you can tell people about you, the better will be the responses.

What hobbies and interests should I list in my profile?

Try and be specific when listing your hobbies.  Instead of saying, “I like music”, you may want to elaborate and say, “I like Jazz music – Bill Evans is my favorite.”  Also, you may want to think of any hobbies that will make you seem unique, perhaps you like bocce ball, or you have a collection of something that you’re very proud of.  After all, you want to make that special connection, not connect with everybody.

What kind of pictures should I include with my profile?

For the best results, you should include several pictures.  Relaxed, having fun, or doing your favorite hobby.  It’s also good to have a great smile in all of your pics!  Every one knows that smiles are contagious.

Should I include my real email address in my profile or ad?

All email that comes through Meet2Go is sent on a “double blind”.  This means that the person sending you mail, doesn’t see your mail, and you can’t see their mail --- until you’re both ready.  That being said, it’s always good to use an email address from a generic, free service.  An email address can tell someone your name, your school, or where you work.  Always try and be safe as possible.

What kind of personal information should I give in my ad or profile?

Try and stick with general information such as your hobbies and interests. Never give out personal identifiable information like your home phone number, home address, or real email address.  Only give out such information when you are comfortable with the person that you are communicating with.

Where should I meet someone for the first date?

Any place that you’re comfortable with is ideal.  However, for a first date it’s always best to stick with public places.  Also, be sure to tell a friend or two where you are going and whom you are meeting. You might even want to arrange to call a friend at a specific time or two during the evening.

Do I have to respond to all who answer my ad?

Answering is polite, but it can sometimes be overwhelming.  It’s not hard to come up with a “scripted” rejection letter if you think someone isn’t a great match.
